Types of Volunteers

Patient Care Volunteers provide companionship to patients who live in their homes and respite for their caregivers.

Extended Care Facility Volunteers provide companionship and socialization for patients residing in extended care facilities, such as nursing homes and assisted living communities.

11th Hour Volunteers provide support on an "on-call" basis to families and patients that are near death and reside in extended care facilities.

Hospice House Volunteers provide care and support to patients in our seven bed inpatient facility and their families.

Office Volunteers provide clerical assistance for a variety of activities.

Bereavement Volunteers provide emotional support through telephone contacts with grieving families during the 13-month period following the death of their loved one.

Fund Raising Volunteers provide assistance with annual activities, such as Walk for Hospice, Helping Hands Award Dinner, and Lube-A-Thon.

Specialty/Professional Volunteers provide assistance based on their unique interests or skills, such as licensed barbers/cosmetologists, certified massage therapists, reflexologists, healing touch practitioners, and those with abilities in maintenance, landscaping, translation/interpretation, graphic design, etc.

Volunteers must have reliable transportation, a valid Indiana driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance coverage.
